Description

The client is seeking a System Chief of Anesthesia to serve as the senior clinical and operational leader for a hospital system service line. The role combines hands-on anesthesia clinical practice with onsite administrative leadership, including building relationships and attending meetings across hospitals and/or corporate locations. Maintaining a clinical presence across multiple sites is critical, with working and embedding clinical time at several locations central to the job.

The client’s partnership has expanded across metro Atlanta locations, and the system-wide consolidation of anesthesia services is intended to unify teams and standardize care. The Chief will lead integration across a broad footprint that supports a full range of services and acuity, representing a large number of anesthetizing locations and a clinical team comprising anesthesiologists and advanced practice providers. The Chief reports to the President of The client and functions as a system leader, with site anesthesia medical directors reporting to the Chief and the role carrying influence over administrative and clinical hiring, scheduling, and performance management across the footprint.

Qualifications include an MD or DO with current board certification in Anesthesiology (required) and active, unrestricted Georgia medical licensure or eligibility to obtain, in good standing with applicable boards and a clean professional record. The role is expected to require progressive anesthesia leadership experience, with multi-site or system-level leadership strongly preferred, or consideration of an exceptional single-site medical director ready to lead at scale. Additional expectations include strong anesthesia operations leadership (including OR utilization, scheduling optimization, and staffing in high-volume environments), comfort with multiple care-team models (including MD solo and CRNA solo care), and demonstrated willingness to work clinically alongside leading others; the ability to build trust, unite teams, partner effectively with health system leaders, and lead through change is highly desirable.
