The client is seeking a senior sustainability leader to lead and manage all standard-setting activities for a global voluntary sustainability standard. The role oversees the design, revision, and ongoing maintenance of standards covering ecological criteria, human rights, social requirements, and responsible business conduct, ensuring coherence with international best practices and credible standard-setting expectations.
The successful candidate will provide senior expertise across certification, auditing, standard development, stakeholder consultation, and sustainability leadership. The role will also require strong textile-sector knowledge and the ability to apply deep understanding of voluntary sustainability standards to support robust implementation, verification, and promotion across textile value chains.
Key qualifications include extensive senior leadership experience in standards development, certification, auditing, and sustainability systems management, along with deep expertise in sustainable textile production, environmental impact management, and social compliance. The position typically involves leading global multi-stakeholder consultation processes, managing diverse international teams (including effective collaboration with remote teams), demonstrating strong technical writing and policy development skills, and using diplomacy and emotional intelligence to build consensus and drive continuous improvement; international travel is expected. Advanced education in relevant sustainability or textile-related disciplines and professional auditing or specialist sustainability-related training may be considered desirable.
