Description

the client is seeking a staff accountant to help maintain accounting processes and records and support the accounting department across all organizational areas. The role focuses on strengthening internal controls and ensuring compliance with US GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal accounting policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities include processing accounts payable, expense reports, credit card transactions, and accounts receivable; preparing journal entries and reconcililiations for month-end and year-end close; and reconciling cash accounts while preparing weekly transfer requests. The staff accountant will also assist with weekly billings to funding sources as assigned, support annual audit preparation, and help prepare tax and compliance filings and related information, including reporting such as Form 990 and other required submissions. Additional duties may include preparing and supporting agency and grant budgets, schedules, reports, and monthly financial information, as well as producing detailed schedules as required.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a related business accounting field, along with 2 or more years of experience in an accounting role. Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks desktop and/or online is preferred, and non-profit accounting experience is preferred; candidates should also have knowledge of commonly accepted accounting principles, payroll processing, and the use of spreadsheets or other accounting-related software. Effective communication, the ability to compile and prepare financial reports, strong confidentiality practices, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks are required. This hybrid role requires 3+ days in-office during regular business hours, with the remaining time typically conducted in office or field environments, and occasional out-of-town and overnight travel may be required; additional requirements include relevant background clearances, a valid unrestricted Pennsylvania driver’s license with reliable transportation and current automobile insurance, and proof of COVID-19 vaccination. The position operates under the direction of the CFO or Controller and is non-exempt.
