The client seeks an experienced, forward-thinking Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost to serve as the institution’s chief academic officer and a key member of the president’s cabinet. The role partners with senior leadership and the broader college community to support a transformation agenda focused on excellence in academic and creative practice and on nurturing student success. The Provost will collaborate across functions to advance the institution’s mission in the visual and performing arts, media, communication, and design, including support for cross-disciplinary innovation and strategic partnerships in education and the broader community.
The Senior Vice President and Provost oversees a broad portfolio of academic programs and administrative units, including academic schools and areas such as faculty affairs, academic policies and resources, accreditation and assessment, core curriculum and global education, the Institutional Review Board, and the Office of the Registrar. The role is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to academic freedom, faculty governance, and inclusive leadership, while advancing creativity as a transformative force. In addition, the Provost will provide strategic financial and operational leadership, including budgeting, resource allocation, and decision-making that aligns with enrollment and institutional priorities.
Key qualifications include a track record of progressively responsible academic leadership in higher education, deep understanding of creative disciplines and emerging technologies, and awareness of evolving workforce needs. Candidates should also bring a demonstrated commitment to faculty governance and inclusive leadership, along with strong financial and strategic acumen. A terminal degree and a record of scholarly, artistic, or creative distinction are required, and the client will support a leadership search process for this executive role.
