The Provost position at UHCL plays a crucial role in enhancing academic excellence and aligning priorities with the university's strategic plan. As the Chief Academic Officer, the Provost will work closely with the President, other executive officers, and faculty to formulate academic goals and policies. Responsibilities include articulating the university's vision of academic distinction, developing and administering academic programs, overseeing policies related to instruction, curriculum, and distance learning, as well as managing faculty appointments and performance assessments.Located in Clear Lake, near Houston and Galveston, UHCL is in close proximity to various science and engineering-driven facilities, organizations, and complexes. The Provost will serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and will be responsible for scholarship and community service initiatives among faculty. This role is integral to the university's ongoing community engagement efforts, which have led to alliances with businesses, organizations, schools, and governmental agencies that enhance the educational, economic, cultural, scientific, and professional environment across the region.
