The Federation of State Medical Boards of the United States, Inc. (FSMB) is seeking a Senior Vice President, Government Affairs to lead their federal and state public policy strategy from their Washington, D.C. office. Reporting to the Chief Public Affairs Officer, the SVP will shape advocacy priorities, foster partnerships, engage with stakeholders, and oversee regulatory monitoring in support of FSMB's mission and member board interests. This executive will work closely with FSMB's Board of Directors, member state medical boards, U.S. Congress, federal agencies, state legislatures, and internal teams dedicated to member engagement, policy, communications, and education.The ideal candidate for this highly visible role will be a relationship-driven leader who excels at collaboration across senior leadership, boards, external partners, and internal teams. In addition to managing the government relations team, the SVP will oversee engagement strategies, partner relationships, communication tools, collaboration opportunities, and thought-leadership initiatives aligned with FSMB's strategic priorities. This individual will serve as the lead legislative strategist, advocate in Washington, D.C., and advisor to executive leadership and member boards, representing FSMB on the national stage and building a high-performing internal policy and government affairs team.
