Description

the client is seeking a Senior Vice President (SVP), Advocacy & Programs to lead its Advocacy & Programs Department. Reporting to the President & CEO, the SVP will serve as a key advisor and lead strategy for programmatic work focused on congressional and executive-branch actions and targeted campaign approaches that connect federal strategy with state and local advocacy across the coalition.

The SVP will bring strong strategic judgment, political instincts, and a forward-looking perspective to navigate complex federal and congressional dynamics and to advance civil and human rights priorities. Responsibilities include developing and implementing an agile set of strategies for Advocacy & Programs, collaborating on work planning and execution, and providing strategic oversight and integration across programmatic hubs—specifically the Center for Civil Rights and Technology and the Census and Data Equity program—so that departmental priorities and strategy remain complementary to overall departmental plans.

The role also includes overseeing and leading direct federal lobbying efforts and cultivating respected relationships across the executive and legislative branches. In addition, the SVP will guide structural and cultural evolution within the department by building trust and transparency, manage and assign departmental staff to execute work plans and support coalition task forces and convenings, and supervise senior leadership within the department to ensure programming operates effectively and aligns with organizational and coalition strategies, while also serving as a central convener to identify and manage opportunities to engage coalition partners on priority policy analysis and development.
