Description

The client is seeking a Senior Program Officer to serve as a strategic leader on the National Education Strategy team. This role will help advance the client’s vision for a fair, future-ready public education system that prepares every young person for economic opportunity, wellbeing, and civic participation in a rapidly changing world. The position focuses on shaping and executing a national strategy that strengthens public education today while catalyzing transformation for tomorrow, using a systems-oriented approach that connects policy, practice, innovation, research, and field leadership.

The Senior Program Officer will collaborate closely with the Director of National Education Strategy to co-develop strategy and lead a portfolio of initiatives focused on transforming public education systems across the P-20 continuum at state and national levels. Responsibilities include translating emerging trends in education and public policy into actionable priorities, capitalizing on connections across local, state, and federal systems-change efforts, and supporting an integrated approach to implementation and continuous improvement. The role also supports organizational learning by seeking opportunities to collaborate and contribute to alignment across the client’s strategy areas.

The Senior Program Officer will organize grantee visits, learning sessions, and other engagements to deepen strategy understanding and capture progress, challenges, and lessons learned. The role includes sourcing, structuring, and managing investments, partnerships, pooled funds, and grantmaking opportunities that support long-term systems transformation, as well as building and stewarding a strategic portfolio aligned to the education strategy. Additional duties include conducting diligence on prospective investments and grants, assessing strategic fit, cultivating collaborative relationships with grantees and field leaders to strengthen execution and collective impact, and designing milestones, outcomes, and learning networks to support continuous improvement.
