The client is seeking a Senior Pantry Coordinator / Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a storefront and mobile food pantry programs. This role ensures pantry services are staffed, stocked, safe, welcoming, and compliant with applicable partner, state, and federal requirements while supporting excellent client service. The position supervises hourly pantry staff and volunteers and coordinates core pantry functions including food procurement, distribution, inventory management, documentation, and budget monitoring.
Key responsibilities include recruiting, training, scheduling, and supervising staff and volunteers; ensuring adequate staffing for storefront and mobile distributions; providing clear assignments and ongoing coaching; and tracking volunteer hours. The role will also oversee daily pantry operations, prepare distribution sites, order food and supplies, receive deliveries, maintain inventory, and coordinate storage, stock rotation, and food-safety practices to support quality and safety. In addition, the coordinator will coordinate recurring food donations with donors and community partners, maintain clean and organized facilities, and ensure required background checks and clearances are completed and maintained for applicable personnel.
The client will require the coordinator to maintain accurate and confidential client records, complete documentation required by food partners and relevant agencies, track donated and purchased items, manage operational reports, and monitor the pantry budget. Essential qualifications include strong supervisory, organizational, and time-management skills; excellent communication and customer-service abilities; and strong computer skills. The role also expects experience maintaining accurate records and protecting confidentiality, the ability to successfully complete federal and state background checks and clearance requirements, completion of annual Civil Rights Training, and current ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification or the ability to obtain it within a specified period after hire; preferred qualifications may include prior experience managing pantry or similar operations and supervision experience, with Spanish-language proficiency as a plus. Physical duties may require remaining on one’s feet for up to four hours, regularly moving and organizing supplies, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing tasks across storefront, warehouse, loading, and mobile distribution settings.
