Description

the client is seeking a (Senior) Manager, Partner Accounting to join their Finance team in Toronto or Montréal. This leadership role will oversee partner-related financial activities for current, non-unit, and retired partners, including partner compensation, capital accounts, draws and distributions, income allocation, tax reporting, and related financial analysis. The position emphasizes accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of sensitive partner financial data, and requires strong communication and relationship management with partners and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities include managing the full partner accounting lifecycle—covering draws, distributions, capital accounts, advances, profit allocations, and year-end adjustments—while maintaining accurate records in the firm’s accounting system. The role will prepare and review partner financial statements, equity reconciliations, and compensation summaries, and produce quarterly and annual partner financial packages in coordination with firm leadership. It also supports unit allocation and capital management by documenting processes, reconciling unit transactions, tracking unit beneficiaries, maintaining capital schedules, and coordinating with financial institutions related to partner capital loan programs.

Additional duties include preparing draws and distributions, processing related journal entries, and maintaining supporting tracking and proration adjustments. The role will manage retired partner capital repayments and interest calculations, maintain repayment schedules, and support long-term planning for retirement, succession, and partner transitions. It will also handle income allocation and year-end processes, coordinate partner tax package preparation and related compliance reporting, and conduct financial planning and analysis such as modeling, forecasting, and profitability insights, collaborating with related teams to support cash flow planning and tax remittances. The client expects candidates to have progressive accounting or finance experience, with CPA designation preferred.
