the senior director, program operations & delivery is the primary steward of delivery performance across the programs unit and serves as the vice president’s chief operational partner. while technical and operational accountability for specific portfolios rests at the portfolio level, this role is primarily responsible for management, coordination, and enabling others—supporting leaders to guide effectively and ensuring portfolios work as a coherent whole. key expectations include applying unit-wide project management standards and providing guidance that balances strategic and operational perspectives.
accountabilities include providing oversight and coordination across programmatic portfolios, supporting senior portfolio directors with complex organizational, people, and operational challenges, and facilitating effective engagement with relevant intra-unit and cross-unit functions such as quality, monitoring and evaluation, safeguarding, people and culture, corporate services, partnerships and growth, and communications. the position also emphasizes coaching and upskilling leadership, using AI-enabled tools effectively, and demonstrating low-ego, high-integrity, and strong personal accountability to enable the success of others.
