The client is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Property Tax to lead enterprise-wide property tax strategy, compliance, planning, and valuation activities for a complex portfolio of energy and infrastructure assets. This executive-level role will help minimize tax liabilities, manage risk, and ensure compliance while partnering with finance, accounting, legal, regulatory, and operational stakeholders.
The Senior Director, Property Tax will provide strategic leadership for property tax matters across multiple asset types, including renewable generation, conventional power generation, transmission, distribution, and related infrastructure throughout North America. Responsibilities include developing and executing property tax strategies; overseeing compliance, assessments, audits, defenses, appeals, and valuation reviews across jurisdictions; managing external consultants and advisors; evaluating legislative and regulatory developments; and driving process improvements and technology enhancements to strengthen efficiency and compliance.
The role will also involve executive-level reporting on tax exposure, reserves, savings opportunities, and strategic initiatives, along with managing and developing a high-performing property tax team. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 15+ years of progressive tax experience with a significant focus on property tax, including deep knowledge of valuation methodologies, compliance, assessments, audits, and appeals, as well as experience managing multi-jurisdiction property tax functions and large asset portfolios. Relevant advanced credentials (such as CPA, CMI, JD, or MBA) are preferred, along with experience in utility and regulated industries, renewable energy asset valuation, and support for mergers, acquisitions, and large-scale capital projects.
