Description

The client is seeking a Senior Director of Philanthropy to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for fundraising efforts across the region. In this senior leadership role, you will align philanthropic strategies with mission-driven initiatives, coordinate communications priorities, and engage in direct donor relationship work to support fundraising goals. You will lead development activities through the client’s regional leadership structure and partner closely with executive leadership and other development stakeholders to ensure consistent execution of regional priorities.

The Senior Director will leverage the region’s philanthropic strengths to secure major gifts that advance local strategic priorities. Responsibilities include overseeing a regional development team of seven individuals, with direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Development and the Senior Regional Communications Manager, as well as guiding team performance and collaboration. Working in partnership with the Executive Director, you will recruit, onboard, and continuously engage an Advisory Board, serving as staff liaison to relevant board committees to strengthen board participation in fundraising and organizational leadership.

A primary focus is to evolve an events-based fundraising model into a sustainable, diversified major gifts program that cultivates high-net-worth individuals and families with an interest in the well-being of children and families. The role emphasizes identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors capable of making major commitments at the $25,000+ level. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in major gifts development and nonprofit fundraising leadership, with demonstrated ability to build relationships, manage teams, and support long-term donor engagement.
