The client is seeking a Senior Director of Development for the College of Liberal and Creative Arts at San Francisco State University. This individual will be responsible for fundraising for the Humanities side of the College, supporting departments such as History, International Relations, Modern Languages, and Political Science. Working closely with other fundraising professionals and college leadership, the Senior Director will focus on securing major gifts ranging from $25,000 to $1M and above. This position is crucial as the University enters the Quiet phase of its Campaign planning, requiring the development of a multi-year strategy to expand the donor base and increase private support.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree and at least seven years of successful fundraising experience, with a preference for a master's degree. Experience in higher education fundraising is desired but not required. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of personal face-to-face solicitations, cultivation, and closing of major gifts, as well as the ability to build relationships with major gift prospects and donors. Strong communication skills and a deep appreciation for the University's mission are essential. The salary for this position is up to $145K, with a hybrid work arrangement of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote each week.
The Senior Director of Development will play a key role in increasing philanthropic support for key fundraising priorities in both undergraduate and graduate programs within the College of Liberal and Creative Arts. This individual will work closely with stakeholders to qualify and engage potential major gift donors, moving them through the cultivation cycle. Additionally, the Senior Director will focus on stewarding donors and strengthening their relationship with the College and the University.
