Description

The client seeks a Senior Director of Communications to shape and execute a growing communications strategy and to strengthen both internal and external communications. Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing and Communications, this senior leader will ensure the organization communicates with clarity, consistency, and purpose across key audiences, serving as a bridge between the organization’s institutional narrative and stakeholders including donors, community partners, media, policymakers, civic leaders, staff, and the broader public.

This role will lead external communications, including media relations, earned and owned media strategy, public affairs positioning, thought leadership, and rapid-response communications. The Senior Director will also support executive communications infrastructure by developing speeches, talking points, briefings, keynote remarks, op-eds, ghostwritten materials, internal messages, and messaging frameworks for the CEO and senior leadership, helping align language and messaging priorities across the organization.

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled, hands-on communications strategist and writer with substantial experience in institutional communications, executive voice writing, media strategy, and cross-functional collaboration. Experience supporting senior executives in complex, high-stakes environments is expected, along with strong judgment, responsiveness, discretion, and message discipline. The role involves close, practical partnership with senior leaders and communications teams to guide day-to-day priorities and ensure stories, announcements, social and donor communications, internal updates, and external messaging reinforce a consistent and compelling institutional narrative.
