The client is seeking a Sales Controller / FP&A Manager to support finance leadership in a consumer goods environment, based in Orange County, CA. The role is highly business-oriented and is expected to be closely involved in sales and marketing decision processes, with an understanding of U.S. accounting to guide planning, reporting, and controls.
Key responsibilities include overseeing controlling activities for sales and marketing teams, controlling sales by client and by product line, and managing client deals, allowances, and related approvals. The role will approve invoices, purchase orders, expense reports, and pricing activities, supervise the implementation of pricing, and ensure profitability of launches, advertising, and promotions while maintaining oversight of inventory and invoicing processes. The position also involves validating marketing sales forecasts with area managers, preparing monthly units and value analysis and reporting on top clients and top products, and producing travel reporting and sales forecast-related validations for upper management.
The role will build and maintain financial plans, budgets, and trend reporting in collaboration with the division manager, produce monthly reporting and KPIs, and support accounting close by reviewing profit and loss outputs in SAP, making accurate accruals, and ensuring capitalized projects are provided to accounting for depreciation. Requirements include relevant professional experience in a similar position (about five years) and a degree in business administration (finance) or economics/accountancy; strong proficiency in MS Excel is required, with advanced MS PowerPoint and Word also needed. Background in CPG/consumer goods and prior experience in roles such as controller, finance manager, financial analyst, internal auditor, or financial auditor may be preferred, and a CPA may be a plus.
