Description

The client is seeking a Retail Store General Manager for a high-end cigar retail store in New York City. The role focuses on driving sales through effective management of retail staff and customer engagement, while also networking externally with high net worth individuals and organizing in-store and local events.

As the brand ambassador, the general manager will oversee external relations within a competitive market, including marketing, merchandising, and local activities. Key operational responsibilities include running daily store operations to company standards, implementing and maintaining programs, meeting financial and operational objectives, monitoring sales and profit-related metrics, managing expenses in line with budget objectives, maintaining cash handling records and opening/closing procedures, reviewing merchandise orders and inventory levels, and implementing inventory control procedures.

The general manager will also lead product sales and customer service by explaining product benefits, features, pricing, quality, and value, while building customer relationships through customer information tracking and maintaining a high standard of visual merchandising aligned with the brand image. Additional duties include educating and holding the sales team accountable to company goals, planning and coordinating promotions and special events, monitoring competitive activities, and recruiting, training, motivating, and developing staff; the role requires 4–6 years of successful luxury/high-end retail management experience (or related field) with strong visual merchandising and managerial skills, excellent communication and organization, adaptability in a fast-paced environment, and a strong plus for cigar/pipe tobacco knowledge.
