The client is seeking a Retail Store General Manager for a new store in Austin, TX. The role focuses on driving sales by leading the retail team, engaging and serving customers, and building relationships in the local market. The general manager will also support brand presence through marketing, merchandising, networking, and organizing in-store and local events.
Key responsibilities include overseeing daily store operations to established standards, ensuring programs are implemented effectively, and meeting financial and operational objectives. This includes monitoring sales performance and related metrics, achieving retail and event goals, managing expenses to support positive store contribution, maintaining accurate cash handling records and opening/closing procedures, and reviewing merchandise orders and inventory levels for accuracy. The manager will also implement inventory controls and maintain brand-appropriate visual standards, while providing product education, sampling, and outstanding customer service to drive added sales volume and customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will have 4–6 years of experience in luxury retail or a related field, with a strong background in luxury/high-end products and an interest in cigars. They should demonstrate strong retail best practices, including recruiting, coaching, training, and accountability for sales team goals, product knowledge, and visual merchandising directives. Additional strengths include the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment, communicate effectively, organize and follow through on plans, and build customer relationships through maintaining customer information; cigar/pipe tobacco knowledge is a strong plus.
