Description

The client is seeking a Research & Evaluation Trustee to provide strategic leadership and governance oversight for its research and evaluation activities. This voluntary role is based in Ireland and requires ensuring that evidence-based practices inform decision-making, program development, and impact measurement while maintaining compliance with ethical and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in research methodologies, data analysis, and impact evaluation, along with an advanced academic qualification in a relevant discipline such as evaluation, social science, public policy, or data science.

The key responsibilities for this role include attending board and subcommittee meetings, understanding the role and structure of the board, and working to ensure that it meets its responsibilities effectively. Trustees are expected to be proactive in fulfilling their duty to ensure good governance and to contribute actively to the work of the board. This will involve reading reports, participating in discussions and decision-making, updating the register of interests annually, and engaging with the technology and systems to fulfill their responsibilities. Trustees are expected to be bound by the majority decisions of the board and uphold the mission, vision, values, and ethos of the client.

Board meetings, which last approximately two hours and are held five times per year in Dublin, require in-person attendance, although online participation is possible. The trustee will also be part of the Service, Risk & Governance sub-committee, which meets five times annually. Candidates should be able to commit time to these meetings and the responsibilities of the role, possess strong communication and strategic skills, and have experience collaborating with stakeholders. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit a cover letter and CV for consideration.
