Description

the client seeks a strategic and innovative Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs to lead efforts to transform and reinvigorate its academic enterprise, strengthening teaching, research, and service. This collegial leader will serve as a key member of the president’s executive cabinet, partnering with faculty, staff, and other university leaders to advance cutting-edge scholarship and practice while supporting community engagement and aligning the university with the evolving needs and interests of students.

Reporting to the president, the Provost is the chief academic officer and a thought leader responsible for academic programs, operations, and initiatives, including ultimate oversight of academic budget responsibilities. The role provides primary oversight of academic operations across colleges, centers, and regional campuses, including faculty promotion and tenure, and the administrative structures that support them. The Provost is also expected to create and implement programs consistent with the university’s strategic priorities, guide academic units in executing the strategic plan, and manage the appointment and evaluation of direct reports.

The Provost will work to enhance student performance, strengthen the standing of scholarly programs in their communities, and support the acquisition of external support for those programs. The role will collaborate with senior and executive leaders responsible for finance and business services, research and innovation, advancement, and student life to develop a shared vision for the academic and research enterprise, advance institutional funding, and improve the university’s national research profile. The Provost will also partner with leaders focused on enrollment management and student success to enrich classroom quality and the student experience, supporting the university’s reputation for undergraduate and graduate education and outcomes.
