The client seeks a highly collaborative, innovative, and experienced academic leader to serve as its next Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. This chief academic officer will provide academic leadership and will work closely with the president and cabinet to advance the institution’s strategic direction, aligned with the institution’s Catholic and Jesuit mission and values. The role requires a strategic thinker who can navigate the complexities of higher education through clear academic vision, curricular innovation, creative partnerships, and strong engagement with faculty and deans.
The Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs will set academic and strategic vision for undergraduate, graduate, and research programs, and provide leadership across multiple academic colleges, the university library, and the Office of the Provost staff. The incumbent is expected to join the academic leadership team to drive excellence, innovation, and the development of an inclusive community and campus culture, while growing partnerships in service of the university’s mission. A demonstrated commitment to building a culture of trust and transparency is essential.
The incumbent must have a clear understanding of national academic and enrollment trends and how they affect the expectations and needs of today’s students and their families. The ideal candidate is an effective, empowering, open-minded leader and a collaborative partner in shared, collegial university governance. Successful candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. or terminal degree and demonstrate a scholarly record that is respected within the academic community, along with a track record of building trusted relationships across faculty, staff, and administrative leadership. A student-centered mindset and commitment to supporting student success are required.
