the client seeks an accomplished, entrepreneurial, mission-driven, and visionary executive leader to serve as its next provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs. reporting to the chancellor, the provost serves as the institution’s second-ranking officer and chief academic officer, providing strategic leadership for the academic enterprise and helping shape institutional direction. the role advances excellence in teaching, learning, research, and academic support, while aligning priorities and resources and fostering innovation across the institution.

the provost provides oversight of a broad academic portfolio, including undergraduate and graduate education, faculty affairs and development, institutional effectiveness, academic advising, curriculum development, academic compliance, and strategic initiatives. responsibilities include advancing enrollment, student success, and research growth, partnering across divisions to align academic priorities with institutional goals related to persistence, workforce readiness, sponsored research, and post-graduate outcomes. the role also includes responsibility for institutional academic budget leadership.

required qualifications include an earned doctorate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited four-year institution, along with a distinguished record of teaching, research, and service meriting appointment as a tenured full professor. candidates must have at least five years of progressive academic administrative leadership experience at the dean level or higher in a four-year institution, demonstrated success in academic planning, curriculum innovation, and institutional accreditation, and a strong commitment to student success reflected in measurable improvements in retention, persistence, and degree completion. experience with academic budgeting, enrollment planning, and performance-based funding models is required, and preferred qualifications include experience in research-intensive or land-grant settings, effective faculty recruiting and retention leadership, cross-functional and interdisciplinary initiative leadership, alignment of academic programs with workforce needs, student affairs partnership experience, external funding support, and familiarity with ncaa division i academic compliance and student-athlete support systems.
