Description

the client is seeking a highly skilled Private Cloud Architect to design and build scalable, automated infrastructure across on-premises data center environments. This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering and architecture, serving as the connective layer between compute, storage, and networking systems. The position focuses entirely on private cloud architecture, with an emphasis on Kubernetes, automation, and infrastructure as code, and is expected to balance hands-on engineering with architectural leadership.

Key responsibilities include designing and implementing private cloud platform architecture for on-premises environments, and serving as the integration point between compute, storage, and networking layers. The role will lead development of Kubernetes-based platforms with a “Kubernetes as code” mindset, drive automation strategy using infrastructure as code, and build and support hybrid cloud connectivity to public cloud environments. The architect will define and embed security architecture principles into platform design, collaborate with infrastructure teams to modernize and scale platform capabilities, and provide hands-on technical leadership to raise engineering standards within the team.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, or cloud architecture, with a deep background in private cloud and data center environments. Required qualifications include hands-on expertise with Kubernetes (design, deployment, and operations), proficiency with infrastructure as code (such as Terraform or similar tools), and experience with container platforms such as OpenShift or SUSE Rancher. Additional requirements include familiarity with distributed systems technologies such as Kafka and Spark, strong networking knowledge (including L2/L3 concepts, EVPN/VXLAN, SDN, and load balancing), experience integrating hybrid environments (on-prem to public cloud), and solid security architecture understanding; preferred qualifications may include experience supporting HPC or GPU-based infrastructure and working in large-scale, highly regulated, or enterprise environments.
