the client is a well-established accountancy and advisory firm with a strong national presence, providing relationship-led advice to high-net-worth individuals, families, entrepreneurs, and business owners. With continued growth in its private client offering, the client seeks an experienced Private Client Tax Partner to lead and expand the private client tax practice area across Surrey, working closely with the London team. This is a senior leadership role with ownership of a significant client portfolio and responsibility for driving strategic growth of the practice.
As the trusted adviser, you will provide commercially focused advice across a broad range of UK personal tax matters, including income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, and succession planning. You will support clients on complex areas such as domicile, residence, international tax exposure, and wealth structuring, and advise on estate and succession planning, including intergenerational wealth transfer. You will also act as a key relationship holder, build long-term client partnerships, and identify opportunities to provide additional services in collaboration with other teams, including corporate tax, transaction services, audit, and advisory.
You will drive business development through networking, client pitches, and building intermediary relationships, while leading and developing the private client tax team by mentoring senior staff and supporting succession planning. The role includes contributing to the firm’s strategic growth by shaping the private client offering and market positioning, ensuring technical excellence and risk management across all client work. The client is looking for a professionally qualified candidate with extensive post-qualification experience in private client tax, strong expertise in UK personal tax (including inheritance tax and capital taxes), and demonstrable experience at senior leadership or partner level (or readiness to step up), alongside proven communication, team leadership, and commercial acumen.
