the client invites bold, thoughtful, collaborative, and forward-thinking leaders to consider serving as its 19th President, the chief executive role. the president will lead with a student-centered approach and a clear, big-picture vision, advancing the institution’s mission to transform students’ lives through a liberal arts and sciences education. working closely with an accomplished and collaborative Board of Trustees, the president will be a highly visible innovator and visionary, expected to show empathy and compassion while being able to make difficult decisions and address the challenges facing higher education.

the president will help steer strategic priorities that may include articulating a clear and distinctive value proposition, stabilizing operational results, strengthening enrollment, building upon a legacy of advancement, and sustaining strong community engagement. the role includes close collaboration with faculty and staff to support students’ academic and social development, and to ensure equitable and inclusive progress across campus. the president is expected to believe in and promote the transformational power of the liberal arts, and to lead in ways that keep the institution connected to society and the world.

the client seeks an accomplished higher education administrator and engaged scholar with a distinguished record of teaching and scholarly engagement preferred, and a terminal degree required. candidates should be clear and timely communicators and have experience in procuring transformational gifts from alumni and external stakeholders. the ideal leader will have a record of engaging students beyond the classroom, leading through challenging times as a crisis manager/leader, instituting major change, and driving innovation for continued growth while preserving what makes private residential liberal arts colleges distinctive.
