The Board of Directors of PHSAs is seeking an experienced leader to oversee a period of significant transformation for the organization. The new CEO will work closely with government to transition designated corporate services to a new shared services organization, refresh the mandate of PHSA, and onboard a new Board of Directors. They will also focus on delivering specialized services to patients in a more sustainable way, in collaboration with regional health authorities, First Nations Health Authority, patients and families, the post-secondary sector, and government to ensure integrated, patient-centred care. The CEO will steward a $6.5B budget and over 28,000 staff through a period of fiscal constraint and health human resource shortages, overseeing the delivery of services in seven clinical program areas and various provincial planning, policy, and corporate supports.The CEO will be responsible for overseeing distinct services in areas such as BC Cancer, BC Emergency Health Services, BC Centre for Disease Control, BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services, BC Childrens Hospital, BC Womens Hospital + Health Centre, and the Michael Smith Genome Sciences Centre, as well as their respective research institutes. These areas vary significantly in scope, scale, operating models, work environments, and cultures, requiring the CEO to look for ways to build capacity across the system through better integration and collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic focus and will need to work closely with various stakeholders to create clarity and ideal conditions for the organization to focus on delivering specialized services to patients in a sustainable manner.
