Description

The client is seeking a President/CEO to lead efforts to secure financial resources supporting the priorities of the Museum of New Mexico system and to fund the Foundation’s operations. The President/CEO develops and strengthens relationships across complex public-private partnership structures involving state entities and governing bodies, and is responsible for implementing the organization’s strategic plan in close collaboration with staff and the Board.

Key responsibilities include representing the organization as the primary spokesperson; working with the Board of Trustees and staff to execute strategic priorities; driving innovation in programs, operations, and services; and developing and carrying out fundraising plans and strategies. This role will support exhibitions, educational/public programs, and special initiatives, diversify and grow development revenues through mechanisms such as planned giving and endowments, cultivate and steward major donors and corporate partners, and oversee the development and execution of the museum membership program while ensuring strong collaboration between membership and development.

The President/CEO will also oversee financial reporting, audits, and risk management; partner with the Board to align governance with strategic priorities; and provide leadership and oversight of organizational staffing and culture. The ideal candidate will have transformational leadership with strong strategic planning and implementation capabilities, exceptional relationship-building and political skills suited to public-private partnerships, demonstrated fundraising expertise including major gifts and campaign work, nonprofit financial acumen with data-informed decision making, and experience working with state agencies and governance nuances; they will also bring cultural competence, organizational management skills, a continuous improvement mindset with staff development, and a transparent, realistic approach to navigating internal challenges related to funding.
