The client is seeking a President and Chief Executive Officer (President & CEO) to provide visionary leadership, set strategic direction, and oversee the organization’s management. The President & CEO will lead the organization’s strategic, operational, financial, and programmatic efforts, including directing policy program areas and serving as the primary external representative. This role reports directly to the Board of Directors and will focus on advancing the organization’s mission of promoting economic security, opportunity, and prosperity for all Americans, particularly those who are too often left out of the policymaking process.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing a long-term strategic vision; stewarding the organization’s financial condition through budgeting, financial planning, and Board reporting; and ensuring sound fiscal management and compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. The President & CEO will oversee the development and implementation of strategic initiatives across policy program areas, monitor legislative, regulatory, judicial, and political developments related to economic and financial policy, and maintain a strong internal culture focused on collaboration, innovation, creativity, and continuous improvement. The role also involves setting performance objectives, providing regular feedback, and directly managing senior policy directors and staff.
The President & CEO will cultivate and maintain relationships with donors and external stakeholders, including elected and unelected policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, media, and partner organizations. The position includes representing the organization at meetings and events to advance its mission and overseeing communications for media outreach, strategic positioning, media relations, and consistent messaging. Required qualifications include an advanced understanding of economics and financial policy and regulation, extensive experience in law, economics, finance, public service, or related work, and senior executive leadership experience. An advanced degree in law, economics, finance, or a related field is highly desirable, along with established relationships with economic and advocacy policymakers and desirable experience as a spokesperson with significant media presence; personal qualities should include integrity, credibility, mission alignment, and strong leadership and communication capabilities.
