Description

the client is seeking a President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead a mission-driven organization and shape its strategic direction while preserving its values and fraternal culture. In this highly visible executive role, the CEO will oversee all aspects of organizational operations, financial performance, membership growth, product strategy, and long-term sustainability, and will serve as the primary ambassador across the insurance industry. The CEO will partner closely with the Board of Directors, the executive leadership team, and external advisors to drive strategic initiatives, evaluate growth opportunities, guide investments and governance, and ensure operational excellence, while also fostering member engagement and community connection through events, communications, charitable initiatives, and cultural programming.

Responsibilities include providing overall strategic direction and day-to-day management to ensure operational efficiency, long-term sustainability, regulatory compliance, and execution of the organization’s mission. The CEO will oversee organizational performance, strategic planning, budgeting, policy development, and leadership team effectiveness, including identifying opportunities for growth, acquisitions, and operational improvement. The role also includes supporting governance and organizational transparency through close partnership with the Board and executive committee stakeholders, and ensuring preparation and presentation of reports covering financial performance, operations, risk management, investments, human resources, and strategic progress aligned with the organization’s governing documents and standards.

The CEO will serve as the public face of the organization through media appearances, community engagement, industry events, and fraternal functions, and will drive membership growth and engagement through marketing oversight, public relations, strategic communications, and relationship-building across constituencies. The CEO will oversee the organization’s financial health in collaboration with senior finance leadership, including budget development, resource allocation, investment oversight, and fiscal management, working with an investment committee and advisors to support prudent stewardship and stability. Required qualifications include 10+ years of senior executive leadership experience in a member-based, nonprofit, fraternal, or insurance-related context, strong understanding of life insurance and annuity products and distribution channels, experience partnering with Boards and governance structures, proven expertise in strategic planning and financial and operational leadership, knowledge of federal and state insurance/financial regulations and compliance, and demonstrated ability to lead teams, engage members or volunteers, and serve as a public-facing leader, with familiarity with fraternal benefit societies and commitment to mission-driven community-focused leadership. A bachelor’s degree in business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field is required, with advanced education and relevant professional designations preferred.
