The client is seeking its next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), an exceptionally talented servant leader who will guide a highly respected and influential voice in surgical education and medicine. Working in partnership with the Board of Directors, Council, and specialty boards, the President and CEO will help shape and execute organizational strategic priorities, ensuring The client remains responsive to an evolving environment. This executive role provides leadership aligned with the organization’s mission, strategy, and policies to ensure the value and impact of certification.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President and CEO will serve as the Board’s key partner and oversee the Council to support the rigor and relevance of The client’s certification and Continuous Certification processes. As the primary external representative, the President and CEO will sustain strong relationships across medical specialty boards, accrediting associations, related surgical societies, program directors, diplomates, and the wider ecosystem connected to surgical education, licensure, certification, and patient outcomes.

The role requires active certification with The client and a minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in a complex healthcare, academic medicine, or medical professional organization. The desired leadership attributes include commitment to public good and diversity, equity, and inclusion; an innovation-focused, assessment- and credentialing-oriented mindset; political and governance savvy; capability leading both remote and in-office staff and engaging volunteer leaders; emotional intelligence; diplomatic decision-making; and comfort representing the organization externally.
