The client is seeking a Coordinator, Policy and Advocacy (MA) to support comprehensive statewide advocacy efforts and policy goals through relationship and coalition building with state, district, and nonprofit stakeholders. Reporting to the Director of Policy and Advocacy, this role will help implement coalition outreach, organizing activities, and communication and logistical support, including research and coordination for advocacy priorities in Massachusetts and the broader New England region.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing an organizing plan for coalition members, alumni, fellows, and partners; supporting campaign strategies related to legislative policy and budgetary priorities; and coordinating timely responses to unexpected policy challenges. The coordinator will assist with engagement of elected officials as needed, organize and facilitate preparation for legislator meetings, coordinate meetings with stakeholders across executive, legislative, municipal, business, and community groups, and manage follow-up actions and engagement tracking systems (including maintaining relationship data). The role also involves drafting internal and external written materials for multiple audiences, and drafting, editing, and translating key advocacy and strategic documents and presentations to support advocacy and organizing efforts.
The coordinator will research, summarize, and track relevant legislation and other key topics tied to The client’s policy goals, and may support tracking and attendance at high-priority advocacy events such as committee hearings and coalition meetings. Additional duties include providing research, coordination, and execution support for organizational initiatives, maintaining organized files and meeting materials, and delivering strategic and logistical support for team and stakeholder events. Travel within Massachusetts is expected approximately twice per month for events, meetings, and convenings, plus attendance at at least one all-organization event per year; the ideal candidate will be highly organized with strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and comfortable with ambiguity and shifting advocacy priorities while delivering work on time.
