Description

We are seeking a voluntary People & Organisational Development Director to join the client as a strategic board member. This role provides advice, governance, and oversight for people structures, workforce planning, and organisational development to support the growth of the organisation. The Director will work alongside the CEO and fellow Directors, focusing on strategic guidance rather than day-to-day people management, and will collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator within the governance arrangements.

Key responsibilities include advising the Board and CEO on strategic people and organisational development matters, providing oversight of HR policies to help ensure ongoing compliance with current legislation, and supporting guidance on contractor engagement, remuneration, and employment arrangements. The Director will also support Director recruitment, induction, succession planning, and periodic reviews of Director roles, responsibilities, and training, while providing strategic advice on organisational structure and workforce planning. Where requested, they will provide advice and support to the Volunteer Coordinator on volunteer management policies and procedures.

The role is suited to an experienced HR, people, or organisational development professional with experience developing or implementing HR policies, procedures, and workforce planning. Knowledge of Irish employment legislation and HR best practice is expected, along with experience relating to contractor arrangements, remuneration, or organisational structures. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential, and charity or voluntary sector experience would be welcome. The expected time commitment includes one board meeting per month (usually online, with occasional in-person meetings) and occasional email and telephone support between meetings, along with participation in relevant working groups or projects as appropriate; reasonable expenses will be reimbursed and induction or handover support will be provided.
