Description

The client seeks an experienced Organizing Director to join its leadership team and help advance systems change efforts. The role will lead four core areas of work: supervising and developing the organizing team, driving campaign strategy and execution, strengthening a member leadership development program, and building external relationships and political positioning that expand the organization’s power. The work is guided by the organization’s theory of change and focuses on growing parent leadership, unity, and voice.

The Organizing Director will set campaign direction by designing goals, timelines, theories of change, and organizing strategies that move members from issue identification to policy wins. Responsibilities include leading campaigns from strategy through execution by establishing clear targets, tactics, timelines, and accountability systems, while keeping members at the center. The role will also design high-impact public actions and political interventions, generate earned media, represent the organization alongside member leaders in meetings with elected and appointed officials, and maintain campaign plans with benchmarks and contingency approaches.

The Organizing Director will build and retain a high-performing organizing team through recruitment, hiring, onboarding, consistent supervision, feedback, formal performance reviews, and direct management of performance and personnel issues. The role will assess organizers’ strengths and growth areas and provide individualized coaching, while leading recurring team meetings and trainings to reinforce organizing practice, accountability, and consistent standards. The client expects the successful candidate to be an effective organizer who can balance strategic planning with day-to-day execution, earn trust with members, coach staff, and thrive in a fast-moving environment while maintaining high standards.
