the client is seeking Non-Executive Directors/trustees to support the work of a charity foundation associated with a major hospital. The foundation promotes the hospital’s contribution to the community and supports thousands of patients through specialist medical services by encouraging philanthropic giving that helps fund vital equipment and services, improving treatment and care. This role is focused on providing guidance to the board and supporting activities aligned with the hospital’s strategic direction.
As a member of the board, you will contribute medical insight and oversight to help advise board and staff on strategy. Key responsibilities include supporting alignment between the foundation’s activities and the hospital’s strategic direction; advising on an Annual Unrestricted Funds Grant programme and helping prioritise requests from hospital directorates using funds made available each year; and overseeing the governance framework and compliance environment, including financial matters, risk management, and cybersecurity and other IT-related matters. You will also support and advise on human capital considerations.
You will help develop the foundation’s marketing and fundraising strategy in collaboration with foundation staff and the board, strengthen the charity’s market position and brand across different audiences, and manage individual giving and major donors by defining and delivering appropriate support strategies. Prior experience in these areas would be advantageous, though training will be provided on fiduciary responsibilities. The board meets five times per year, with the majority meetings conducted virtually and at least one in-person meeting per year.
