We are seeking an Independent Non-Executive Director to join the client’s board. The client is the national governing body for rugby union in England, with responsibility for promoting and developing rugby from grassroots to the elite. The board role will focus on strategic oversight to help the Union meet its vision, performance objectives, and national governing body obligations.
As a board member, you will provide support, insight, and constructive challenge to the board and senior leadership in the management of the professional and high-performance rugby ecosystem. You will act as an ambassador and spokesperson for high-performance rugby matters alongside the Chief Executive Officer, and participate actively in board discussions. You will also support management beyond formal board meetings where required.
The ideal candidate will have direct experience of high-performance rugby, gained as a player or coach/manager, which may include day-to-day work within a high-performance environment and is likely to include experience of playing and/or coaching international rugby. You will have a strong passion for rugby and knowledge of key strategic issues affecting the professional game. The role requires outstanding, proven leadership skills to inspire employees and a wide range of external stakeholders, including volunteers, along with a committed, loyal, trustworthy approach that reflects the client’s values.
