Description

The client is seeking a National Director, Major Gifts to help build and grow a major gifts program that supports its mission-driven service movement. The organization mobilizes young adults and partners within Jewish communal organizations to catalyze time-bound, thematic national service campaigns, aiming to enable meaningful Jewish service and learning at significant scale. This role will play a central part in building a sophisticated individual major gifts function focused on high-capacity donors.

Responsibilities include developing, launching, and scaling major gifts strategies; cultivating and stewarding a portfolio of individual donors; and securing major gifts within the stated range to sustain and grow organizational impact. A key focus will be partnering with and activating lay leaders to deepen donor relationships, broaden networks, and strengthen a culture of philanthropy across the movement. The role will also support thoughtful donor strategy by extracting and analyzing relevant data to inform decision-making and process effectiveness.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished fundraiser with demonstrated experience engaging high-net-worth individuals, cultivating and closing five- and six-figure gifts, and building strong communities of donors and volunteer leaders. The client will look for commitment to the mission and values, a demonstrated understanding of Jewish communal service through personal or professional engagement, strong communication and relationship-building skills, and mature judgment for handling sensitive and confidential information with integrity. Experience with volunteer identification and engagement, development of compelling cases for support, and execution of strategic fundraising plans are expected; experience with CRM and project management tools and familiarity with productivity tools are preferred, along with a solutions-oriented, growth-minded approach.
