The client is seeking a field-based Medical Science Director (Mid-Atlantic) to serve as a clinical and scientific resource for healthcare providers, key opinion leaders, and healthcare systems across oncology and related specialty therapeutic areas. This role will support evidence-based scientific discussions, gather medical insights, facilitate clinical research initiatives, and collaborate cross-functionally to inform medical strategy, medical education, and patient care for both marketed and pipeline therapies.
Key responsibilities include supporting medical affairs activities through compliant scientific exchange across oncology, infectious disease, nephrology, and acute care; building trusted relationships with healthcare providers, key opinion leaders, pharmacy stakeholders, and institutional decision-makers in inpatient and outpatient settings; contributing to medical strategy development and evidence dissemination, including publication planning; and identifying and supporting clinical trial sites, investigators, and referral networks to enable study enrollment and execution. The role also includes responding to unsolicited medical information requests in accordance with corporate policies and regulatory guidelines, and providing scientific education and training to internal teams while working effectively within a matrix organization.
Candidates should have an advanced healthcare or scientific degree (such as PharmD, PhD, DNP, NP, PA-C, or an equivalent). The position requires the ability to travel 60–70% across assigned territories and prior clinical experience working with Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) patients; oncology experience is a plus, with additional experience in infectious disease, nephrology, or critical care strongly preferred. Additional requirements include exceptional scientific communication and presentation skills, strong relationship-building abilities, proficiency in evaluating scientific literature and interpreting medical data, the ability to operate independently while managing multiple priorities, and a high level of professionalism, integrity, and compliance orientation.
