The client is seeking a Medical Director of General Cardiology for its cardiology service line. Reporting to the Cardiovascular Service Line Chief Medical Officer, the Medical Director will serve as the accountable clinical executive for general cardiology and cardiovascular imaging across The client’s geography and all sites of service. In collaboration with cardiovascular clinical and operations leadership and other physician leaders, the role will optimize growth while ensuring efficient and effective delivery of cardiovascular care through clinical, operational, and financial outcomes.
The Medical Director will support clinical and service quality by representing general cardiology within the system and with independent partners, building strong working relationships with employed and independent providers, and leading efforts to reduce unnecessary clinical and operational variation. This includes championing high reliability care standards, developing and reviewing performance dashboards to monitor clinical outcomes (including quality metrics, registry outcomes, and patient experience results), and creating and implementing action plans to improve performance. The role also includes managing physicians and APPs within the service line, supporting culture-building, and addressing performance concerns.
Additional responsibilities include education and training development, such as establishing and leading standardization of clinical protocols and ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures. The Medical Director will disseminate information consistently to physicians, APPs, and clinical staff, conduct regularly scheduled service line meetings, and stay informed about relevant national developments. The role will also support clinical program development and workforce recruitment by aligning physician and APP efforts to strategic priorities, partnering with operations leaders to develop short- and long-term service line plans, informing new program and technology initiatives, participating in business plan discussions, coordinating performance metric attainment, and participating in workforce planning and recruitment strategy development, while maintaining an active clinical practice.
