Client is seeking a Market President for the Grand Rapids, MI market. The role will support the origination and servicing of a variety of commercial real estate, C&I, and SBA loans, and will assist senior officers with larger and more complex lending matters while providing other customer services as needed. The position is accountable for the overall commercial lending performance of the market and participates in local strategic planning.
Responsibilities include developing and managing commercial loan accounts to meet lending requirements while balancing profitability and risk, and soliciting new commercial business through calls, referrals, and cross-selling. The role will generate a range of commercial and real estate loans, support deposit growth by promoting additional banking products, and collect and analyze information to assess customer creditworthiness and the merits of existing loans. The Market President will also obtain and maintain COIs, attend networking events in the assigned geographic area, review and analyze title reports or surveys for potential risks, and help guide loans through the approval and closing process.
In addition to credit and underwriting support activities such as evaluating applicants’ financial status, credit, and property information, the Market President will meet with applicants to complete loan applications and answer process questions, and explain or refer relevant banking, insurance, and trust products and services. The role will lead, coach, and develop a team of Relationship Managers to achieve goals and will represent the bank in the community through professional and civic involvement. Qualifications include a preferred bachelor’s degree in banking, finance, or a related field, seven or more years of direct lending or credit support experience focused on business relationships, demonstrated production and experience with CRE and C&I lending, and strong analytical and communication skills, along with familiarity with sales, loan processing, and closing workflows and knowledge of applicable commercial banking regulations.
