The client is focused on strengthening literacy outcomes by leveraging community volunteer tutoring in under-resourced settings. within the finance organization, The client seeks a Managing Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to lead the FP&A function and provide business and financial guidance to the Chief Financial and Operations Officer (CFOO) and budget leaders across a national, distributed organization.
the Managing Director will support the annual strategic planning process, develop financial models and forecasting tools for long-term scenario planning, and play a lead role in creating the annual budget and related monthly forecast processes. responsibilities include preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial reports; conducting variance analysis by region and function; supporting executive stewardship of key financial metrics; collaborating with budget owners, development teams, and regional operations on cash flow forecasting; advising budget leaders on fiscal operating decisions; and analyzing spending trends to improve resource allocation and results.
the role also oversees financial operations and systems by evaluating and enhancing processes to sustain operational excellence as the organization grows. it will manage and expand FP&A reporting and planning capabilities using a financial planning platform, including building reports and dashboards and potentially integrating with third-party systems. additionally, the Managing Director supports compliance by ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for funders, manages a team of two (including the Senior Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis), and partners with the CFOO to envision future finance staffing and provides regular support to other finance-related functions such as the month-end close process.
