Description

The client is seeking a Managing Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to lead the FP&A function and serve as a key partner to the Chief Financial and Operations Officer within a national, distributed organization. The role provides business and financial guidance to senior finance leadership and budget stakeholders, supports budget preparation, forecasts, and financial reporting/analysis for multiple regions and departments, and acts as a liaison between national and regional teams. It also supports broader finance activities, including the month-end close process.

The Managing Director will manage a small FP&A team and help maximize long-term impact through the efficient, effective, and sustainable allocation of financial resources. Responsibilities include partnering on future Finance team staffing with the Chief Financial and Operations Officer and providing regular support to other finance-related functions. The role is expected to provide accurate, timely financial information and advice that supports leaders responsible for planning, funding, and program operations.

Key duties span strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial operations, systems, and compliance. The role will support annual strategic planning, build financial models and forecasting tools for long-term scenario planning, lead the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting cadence, and prepare monthly performance reporting with variance analysis by region/function. It will collaborate with budget owners and operations teams on cash flow forecasts, analyze spending trends to inform resource allocation, prepare materials for quarterly board-level review, oversee and improve finance systems and processes as the organization grows, enhance use of financial planning software (including possible integrations and dashboard/reporting development), and ensure accurate and timely reporting to meet funder/donor requirements as required.
