The client is seeking a Managing Director of Finance and Operations (MDFO) who will report to the Executive Director and partner with senior leadership to design and oversee internal organizational processes and supporting infrastructure across finance, administration, human resources, IT, and facilities. The MDFO will help shape a high-performing, collaborative, values-driven culture and will work closely with the Controller, balancing strategic oversight with hands-on execution to meet the wide-ranging demands of a small organization.
Key responsibilities include overseeing short- and long-term fiscal planning; developing and integrating financial monitoring, analysis, forecasting, and reporting systems, including collaboration on organizational software; managing finance and accounting functions such as regular financial statements, taxes, and required government filings; and leading the annual budgeting process with timely budget monitoring and forecasting. The MDFO will prepare, interpret, and communicate timely financial information and analysis to senior leadership to enable sound, informed financial decisions.
The MDFO will also provide operational leadership by guiding IT infrastructure and systems adoption, working with external IT vendors, and enhancing operations policies and procedures covering purchasing, security, and safety. They will ensure appropriate human resources systems are in place, act as a thought partner on HR management that complies with applicable laws and regulations, and support a culture of equity, inclusion, diversity, transparency, and accountability. In addition, the MDFO will conduct business analyses and monitor key financial metrics for management and board reporting, maintain relationships with key financial and operational vendors, drive process improvements, help assess new revenue opportunities, support organizational capacity building, and contribute to strategic planning and other organization-wide initiatives.
