The client has an opening for a Managing Director responsible for developing and leading the overall strategy for affordable housing and rental assistance programs. This role will identify new opportunities, partnerships, and ideas to expand housing options, and help plan and prepare for new housing programs, including staffing, resources, and operations. The Managing Director will provide expert guidance on affordable housing, housing stability, and rental assistance programs.
The Managing Director will oversee Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8), Project-Based Voucher, and other rental assistance programs, working to improve voucher participation, increase landlord involvement, and enhance the resident experience. Using data and reports, the role will improve program performance, quality, and compliance, while creating resident-focused programs that address community needs and support long-term housing stability. The position will also build and maintain relationships with housing authorities, government agencies, nonprofits, developers, landlords, and community partners.
This senior leadership role includes representing the organization at housing meetings and industry and community events, developing partnerships that increase resources, and leading internal teams to promote teamwork, accountability, and collaboration. The Managing Director will help identify staffing needs, manage budgets and resources, and ensure programs and daily operations align with organizational mission and goals. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of progressively responsible supervisory experience, including at least four years administering public or private housing and/or assisted housing programs, senior-level affordable housing and community development leadership experience, strong knowledge of voucher programs and regulatory frameworks, proven experience navigating complex regulatory environments and funding mechanisms, and the ability to lead through ambiguity while demonstrating strategic thinking, communication, and relationship-building skills.
