The client is seeking a Managing Director to develop and lead overall strategy for affordable housing and rental assistance programs. This onsite role will help plan and prepare for new housing initiatives, guide program operations, and provide expert leadership on housing stability and rental assistance. The Managing Director will also oversee Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8), Project-Based Voucher, and other rental assistance programs, with a focus on improving performance, quality, and compliance.
Key responsibilities include using data and reports to improve program results; creating resident-focused programs that address community needs and support long-term housing stability; and finding ways to increase voucher participation, strengthen landlord involvement, and enhance the resident experience. The Managing Director will represent the client at housing meetings, industry events, and community discussions, and will develop and maintain partnerships with housing authorities, government agencies, nonprofits, developers, landlords, and other community partners to expand resources and improve housing outcomes.
The ideal candidate will bring a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of progressively responsible supervisory experience, including at least four years in the administration of public or private housing programs and/or assisted housing programs. The role requires senior-level leadership experience in affordable housing or community development, deep understanding of voucher programs and regulatory frameworks, and proven ability to navigate complex funding and compliance environments. The Managing Director should demonstrate strategic thinking, strong communication and relationship-building skills, the ability to lead through ambiguity, and a commitment to equity and resident voice, with an ability to obtain and maintain required program-related certifications.
