Description

The client is seeking a Managing Director to establish and lead a strategic vision for affordable housing and voucher-program initiatives. This role will guide the development of new programs, partnerships, and operational models to expand housing access and improve resident outcomes, while overseeing early-stage planning, resource alignment, and organizational readiness for future initiatives. The Managing Director will also serve as a thought leader on housing stability, rental assistance, and systems-level solutions.

The Managing Director will provide senior oversight for Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) initiatives, project-based vouchers, and related rental assistance programs, advancing strategies to improve voucher utilization, landlord participation, and participant experience. Responsibilities include strengthening program compliance, quality, and performance through data-informed decision-making, championing resident-centered program design, and building high-level relationships with housing authorities, government agencies, nonprofit partners, developers, and community stakeholders. The role is expected to represent the client in regional and national housing conversations, coalitions, and policy discussions, and to cultivate cross-sector collaborations that expand resources and drive systemic change.

Key qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of progressively responsible supervisory experience, including at least four years in the administration of public or private housing programs and/or assisted housing programs. The client expects senior-level leadership experience in affordable housing or related systems, with deep knowledge of voucher program operations, regulatory frameworks, landlord engagement, and participant support. Candidates should have demonstrated success navigating complex regulatory and funding environments, proven ability to lead through ambiguity and guide growth and change, strong strategic and communication skills, the ability to obtain and maintain required program-related certifications, and a clear commitment to equity, resident voice, and community-driven solutions.
