Description

The client is seeking a mission-driven Managing Director, People and Culture to lead transformative digital growth and culture change. The role will oversee core HR operations and build organization-wide frameworks for assessments, performance management, and professional development, while also leading change management as AI and digital tools are adopted to free staff for more mission-critical work.

Reporting to the CEO (with a dotted-line relationship to the COO), the Managing Director will lead the HR team, align HR strategy with organizational goals, and communicate priorities across levels. This leader will design and deliver change-management, user-adoption, and digital-experience strategies for HR and organization-wide AI initiatives, embedding user experience and change principles into major projects, and driving training, communications, and engagement supported by feedback, analytics, and KPIs for continuous improvement.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate strategic HR leadership across recruitment, retention, performance, and succession planning, using data to inform decisions, and will bring operational excellence to improve HR processes and implement policies. The role also expects strong digital change leadership with responsible AI considerations, including clear communication of AI to non-technical staff and anticipation of privacy, bias, and compliance risks, along with a collaborative, inclusive approach to engagement and culture; candidates will typically have 10+ years of HR experience with at least 5+ years in executive roles, a BS/BA (with advanced degrees and senior HR certifications preferred), and proven change leadership experience.
