Description

The Lighting Styling Design Director is responsible for developing and implementing the lighting design strategy for various brands within the client. This role involves refining the processes within the lighting design department and ensuring the optimization and enhancement of these systems. The director oversees the entire design process, dictating the design direction and ensuring quality throughout both the prototype and mass production phases. They are also tasked with guiding project leads to define the styling design goals while maintaining high standards in design direction and program quality. Collaboration with modelers to create and manage both digital and physical 3D models is crucial, as is resolving any technical challenges encountered during the design and development stages.

Candidates for this position should have a Bachelors degree in industrial design or a related field and more than a decade of experience in automotive lighting design. They should have proven leadership in designing at least five car models, with a strong ability in foresight and design trend prediction. At least five years of team management experience are required to effectively lead the design team and coordinate with other departments to set and achieve challenging objectives. A high degree of innovation and creativity, along with exceptional skills in sketching and drafting, are preferred abilities for this role.

Additionally, the candidate should have strong communication skills and logical problem-solving abilities. They must be well-versed in automotive and lighting structures, as well as relevant lighting laws and regulations. Keeping abreast of global design trends and possessing a passion for design and lifestyle are important. Proficiency in design software such as Photoshop and Alias is required to succeed in this role. The Director is also tasked with mentoring and training junior designers to build the professional abilities of the team.
