the client is a social justice youth development organization that provides holistic, long-term support for youth ages eight through twenty-two through evidence-based programming such as rites of passage activities, after-school care, counseling, summer camps, job training, college preparation, employment opportunities, community organizing training, and international study programs. the client is based in harlem, new york, with a national reach, and engages in publishing and educator training to support its approach while organizing and advocating for social change.
Reporting to the Director of Arts & Organizing and working closely with the Associate Executive Director of Programming, the client is seeking a Liberation Program Coordinator and Lead Organizer to provide daily hands-on leadership and support for the Liberation Program, including members and facilitators. In this role, you will serve as a key link between directors and frontline program staff, ensuring the program runs effectively and supporting the organization’s broader programmatic vision in collaboration with other coordinators and directors.
The client is looking for a candidate with strong people management and organizational skills, along with a program background focused on youth development and organizing. Responsibilities include collaborating on program plans and objectives, leading staff to achieve program success, identifying challenges and supporting resolutions, and providing ongoing coaching and daily support. You will build internal and external relationships, cultivate a positive growth-oriented team environment, guide youth leaders through training to co-facilitate workshops, develop and manage organizing campaigns, coordinate actions, and coordinate with other staff and partner organizations to advance member efforts; you will also coach staff and participants on facilitating and advancing internal activism and represent the program within coalitions and partnerships.
