Description

the client is seeking an Executive Director to lead GreenLight Kansas City forward. This role works with a Selection Advisory Council made up of entrepreneurs and investors, nonprofit and philanthropic leaders, social entrepreneurs, issue experts, and local residents with lived experience navigating poverty to identify community needs and to vet, select, fund, and launch high-performing national solutions aligned to those needs. The Executive Director will also build the client’s visibility and network, including developing a strong, diverse coalition to support funded portfolio organizations and cultivating and expanding the donor and investor base.

Reporting to a Vice President, Site Success, the Executive Director will lead implementation of the client’s Method of Impact in the city, partner with peers across the country to share what works, and support the broader national network. Core responsibilities include providing programmatic leadership by guiding a community-wide Selection Advisory Council, running an annual selection process, and conducting diligence and landscape analysis to assess organizational potential and community fit. The Executive Director will ensure that community voices with lived experience inform priority needs and solutions, serve as an active board member for portfolio organizations as appropriate, and act as a strategic thought partner and connector to portfolio organization leaders and boards across strategic and operational areas, including continued support for legacy portfolio organizations as needed.

Externally, the Executive Director will represent the client and cultivate relationships with community leaders, entrepreneurs, private-sector investors, philanthropic partners, government officials, and nonprofit and business leaders, as well as prospective partners. The role includes active stewardship of current local investors and taking responsibility for fundraising across the full cycle to grow the investor base. The position is well suited to an experienced, results-oriented, and inspiring leader who can collaborate to advance a proven model for growing high-performing nonprofits and engage individuals, funders, and companies to drive meaningful community impact.
