This is an opportunity for an experienced commercial litigator to bring an established litigation practice and well-developed client relationships, with a focus on advising clients on strategic dispute resolution. The role emphasizes a collaborative culture, a strong platform, and national reach, with responsibility for managing complex commercial litigation matters.
The successful candidate will lead and manage a broad and complex commercial litigation practice, advising on commercial disputes and risk management across the full dispute resolution spectrum. Responsibilities include litigation strategy and support for negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and trial matters, along with ongoing client relationship management and continued growth of the practice. The partner will work collaboratively with colleagues across practice groups, offices, and jurisdictions, mentor and support associates and junior lawyers, and contribute to business development initiatives through client relationship management, profile-building, and strategic growth opportunities.
Qualifications include an LL.B. or J.D. degree (or equivalent) and good standing with a Canadian Law Society. The client expects significant experience advising on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, along with superior advocacy, drafting, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Strong practice management, sound judgment, business development ability, and a collaborative approach with strong interpersonal skills are key, as well as an established and portable practice and demonstrated ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
